Forma Aeternus - die zeitlose Form
The name Forma Aeternus of our small company stands exactly against the trend of transience, fast-paced life and soulless design. Our mission is to design and build objects that are timeless and therefore still look beautiful and serve their purpose even after several decades with signs of wear.
In a world full of stimuli, it is all the more important to create objects that exude a sense of calm and even a kind of humility . A great inspiration for this is the centuries-old monastic design , i.e. the design of various monasteries , such as the Carthusian Order, whose interiors exude a deep sense of calm and simplicity. You could say they were the inventors of minimalism in everyday life.
With our company, we want to counteract the trend of importing cheap goods from the Far East and wood from the rainforest. In our artisanal production, we create small series and unique items that are a mixture of traditional craftsmanship , modern design and proven materials such as local woods such as oak, ash and spruce. Our objects are also glued with natural glues , treated with pure linseed oil and sometimes left completely raw. This means that the thread of simple design continues in the treatment and use of natural materials .

Frederic Hohaus
Since my childhood, my creativity has been closely linked to my grandfather's craft. He was a cabinetmaker and in his workshop I was able to let my imagination run wild. With the knowledge and the urge to work creatively and with my hands, I learned the profession of technical model maker in the automotive industry and accompanied the creation of a car from the first design model to the finished prototype with the craftsmanship skills I had learned.
Over time, it became clear that I wasn't really interested in cars and that I actually wanted to bring more of my creativity into my craft. So I decided to study product design. That way, I could finally make full use of that creativity, coupled with the craftsmanship touch.
Having rediscovered my love for wood, I focused on the design and construction of furniture and everyday objects made of wood with a clear design and long-lasting craftsmanship.
With a focus on the tradition of craftsmanship, the longevity of local woods and a simple design, Forma Aeternus is intended to be an address for objects that we can still use in 20 years and pass on to our children.

I originally come from the beautiful Saarland, near the border with France. After graduating from high school in Hanover in 2018, I began studying economics at the Leibniz University of Hanover.
I have been interested in crafts since I was a child. Whether it was small DIY jobs or large construction projects in the garden, I was able to support my family.
At Forma Aeternus, however, I leave the work to the professionals. Frederic takes care of our process from the idea to the finished product. I provide support with marketing, accounting and our customer service.
We both complement each other very well due to our different experiences and hope to be able to contribute something to a more sustainable future.
Our products are designed to combine durability and aesthetics, enhance your home and contribute to minimizing our consumption.
